How To Grade
Assignment Mode vs Quiz Sheet Mode
Teachers often ask which grading mode is best. The answer depends on where your student work lives and how your school tracks results.
The core difference
Assignment Mode is tied to Google Classroom assignment objects. Quiz Sheet Mode is tied to spreadsheet-based workflows. Pick the mode that matches your source of truth.
When to use Assignment Mode
- You grade directly from Google Classroom submissions.
- You want Classroom roster alignment and assignment-level tracking.
- You plan to push grades back into Classroom workflows.
When to use Quiz Sheet Mode
- You collect quiz responses in sheets or export data to sheets.
- You need column-targeted grading for selected prompts.
- You run spreadsheet-first analytics after grading.
How to switch modes safely
- Pause any active grading run.
- Confirm source mode in the top selector.
- Re-select course or sheet context after switching.
- Run a short calibration batch first.
Teacher checklist before Initiate
Confirm mode, confirm source data, confirm instructions, and only then click Initiate. That sequence prevents most grading misfires.
