How to Add Your OpenRouter API Key

Requirements before setup
- An active OpenRouter account and API key.
- VelociGrader access and sign-in complete.
- Permission to use provider keys per school policy.
Step-by-step setup
- Open AI Engine panel.
- Select OpenRouter as provider.
- Paste key into API key input.
- Save and confirm status indicator.
Validate your configuration
Run a small test assignment and verify score + feedback output. If responses fail, test with a different model before changing instructions.
Troubleshooting key errors
- Invalid key: regenerate and paste again.
- Wrong provider selected: switch back to OpenRouter.
- Network restrictions: test from a permitted network.

Never share keys publicly. Rotate keys if compromised. Keep grading review in teacher control before finalizing grades.
